Pottery was one of the first modules I completed in TY. This is a module I was looking forward to from the beginning. Ive always been into art and being being creative. During this class, we learnt how to make basic pots and then turn them into something creative, for example, a monster. We had to learn how to glaze our pieces and how the process works. First, we came to realise that pottery takes time and it takes effort most importantly. Pottery usually falls in the category of being easy in most people's minds, we soon discovered that although making a basic pot sounds simple, getting it right isn't what you call a piece of cake. Th class was a lot of fun and it let us express our ideas in any way we want, no matter how ridiculous they were.
Being a part of this class gave me an opportunity to learn a new skill and to develop what I thought baout working with clay. This module became somewhat stressful at times because of what I thought of clay, for example one of the first lessons we learnt in class was that clay dries out very fast and if you over handle it that process becomes much quicker and can soon become very diffivult to work with, as you can imagine this got very frustrating as we only had two classes a week, making the amount of time te clay had to stay wet for was a maximum of seven days.
In my opinion, this class was fun, useful and important. This class taught me how to be more creative and that not to judge a book by its cover, just because pottery looks easy, doesn't mean you'll find it easy at all.
