On Friday November 17th, I visited DCU in Glasnevin with my class. We attended three lectures of our choice to get a feel for the courses, to decide if that subject was what we wanted to do as a career or at least study in college. I attended Psychology, General Nursing and Athletic Therapy and Training. Psychology was something I didn’t realise I was really interested in until I listened to the woman talk about what can develop from studying psychology in college. This course seems really good and interesting, I definitely benefited from attending this talk and I’m very happy I have found a new interest. Next, I went to general nursing which I thought I may be interested in to begin with but turns out its something I’m not so bothered about after all. I was really surprised by this but it was beneficial to find out now rather than later that it’s something I wouldn’t find fun or easy to study. Finally, I went to athletic therapy and training, I really enjoyed this talk and I only attended it because I have a massive interest in physiotherapy, during this talk I discovered that physiotherapy and athletic therapy aren’t the same thing, but after listening to this talk I leant that athletic therapy is what I’d rather study instead of physiotherapy. I thought these lectures were really beneficial for me to discover what I would like to study in the future.
